I the editor of StackerDiary welcome's you all. Today's post is all about the Top 10 longest Rivers of the worldWell most of us know top 3. i guess, but later one's i doubt it. so, here we are with the post.

Ok now most of you are familiar with the name river and what is it. But having the precise knowledge of rivers would do no harm. A river is a natural flow of water that crosses a vast area of land and goes into an ocean, a lake, etc.


Top 10 Longest Rivers of the World

1. Nile


Nile is the world's longest river. It covers a vast journey of 4,132 miles before meeting the Mediterranean Sea in the form of a vast delta in Egypt. It drains about 10% of the entire Africa. It has got only two tributaries; White Nile which originates from Rwanda and Blue Nile from Ethiopia. Both the tributaries of nile meet at sudan.


2. Amazon


Amazon ranked 2 on the list of top 10 longest rivers This river originates in South America and meets the Atlantic Ocean covering a journey of 6,400 kilometers (4,000 miles). It's also one of the widest rivers on earth measures up to 7 miles at various places along its course.

Flowing through several countries, including Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and others, the Amazon Basin is home to a vast and diverse ecosystem, known for its rich biodiversity and dense rainforests. The river plays a crucial role in the region's ecology and has a significant impact on global climate patterns.


3. Yangtzee River


6,300 kilometers (3,915 miles) a Journey started from Tibet plateau in eastward ends in East China at Shanghai. This is the journey of Yangtzee River also known as Chang Jiang or Yangzi is also the longest river in Asia. This river drains 1/5 of the land of the China.

Flowing through China, the Yangtze River has immense cultural, economic, and ecological significance. Its course spans a varied terrain, encompassing mountains, plateaus, and plains, influencing the livelihoods of millions.

4. Mississipi-Missouri River System


This is the largest drainage system in North America. It flows in the US, it rises in the norther Minnesota and Meanders slowly southwards for 2,340 miles to Mississippi River Delta at the Gulf of Mexico. 
Mississippi and Missouri rivers is the fourth-longest river system globally. 

Flowing through the central part of the United States, it plays a crucial role in the region's geography, ecology, and economic activities. The system encompasses both the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, contributing to the drainage of vast areas and influencing the landscapes of plains and valleys. 

The Mississippi-Missouri River System has been integral to the historical and economic development of the United States.


5. Yenisei


Covering a journey of 3,445 miles. This river is the largest river system flowing to the Arctic Ocean. It is the most famous of three great Siverian rivers that flow into the Arctic Ocean.

Flowing through a vast and remote region, the Yenisei plays a significant role in the Siberian landscape, impacting the surrounding ecosystems and providing a vital watercourse for the area.

6. Yellow River (Huang He)


Yellow river is the 3rd longest river in Asia 
and the sixth-longest globally covering a journey of 3,395 miles. The rivers originates in the Bayan Har Mountain in Western China and empties into Bohai Sea near the city of Dongying in Shandong province.

The river basin has been a cradle of Chinese civilization for millennia, witnessing the rise and fall of ancient dynasties. The Yellow River plays a pivotal role in shaping the identity and development of the regions it flows through.


7. Ob-Irtysh River


This is the world's 7th longest river which 
5,410 kilometers (3,395 miles) long. This is a major river in western Siberia, Russia. The Ob forms 16 miles southwest of Biysk in Altai Krai at the confluence of the Katun and Biya rivers.

Comprising the Ob and Irtysh rivers, this system is a key geographical feature in the region. Its extensive course influences the surrounding landscapes, including plains, forests, and mountainous terrains. 


8. Parana River


Second longest river after Amazon in all South America is The Parana River which covers a distance of 4,880 kilometers 
3,030 miles. It runs through Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina.

It flows through different countries like Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. The river goes through various landscapes, like tropical forests and large plains. People use the Paraná River for trade and transportation because it's an essential waterway.  It also has many plants and animals, making it important for the environment.


9. Congo River


Congo is the river in Africa which has a length of 4,700 kilometers (2,920 miles) giving it 9th place on top 10 longest rivers. It is also the world's deepest river. This river with its tributaries flow via Congo rainforest which is the 2nd biggest rainforest in the world after Amazon Rainforest.

The Congo River has a crucial role in the region's geography and people's lives. It travels through diverse landscapes, including forests and savannas. The river is important for trade and transportation, and it supports a variety of plants and animals, contributing to the local environment.


10. Amur River


River Amur is the 10th longest river in the world covering a journey of 4,444 kilometers (2,763 miles). It rises in the hills of Western Manchuria at an elevation of 994ft. It flows east forming a border between Russia and China.

his river is situated in northeastern Asia and has significance for both countries it borders. The Amur River flows through various landscapes, including forests and plains.

Importance

Rivers have been and are playing an important role in shaping the world. Most of the ancient civilizations had thrived and flourished along the largest rivers on earth.
